Overview

The Design Guru position is for students that want to spread their wings in the dark arts of graphic design, user experience, interaction and more. You will directly be influencing how the application looks and feels to all end users. Internship at InternMagic, a startup that provides an innovative new platform for college students to find internships and jobs based on their personality, helping them secure careers they can be happy and excited about.

We understand that classes get hectic so you can choose the amount of time you’d like to commit each week and we will formulate your weekly goals accordingly; some work can be done remotely. Our mission is for this to be fun, flexible, and help you gain real world experience!

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design and development teams to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience

  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks

  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, interaction prototypes and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas

  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details to meet competing deadlines for multiple projects with varying requirements.

  • Provide office management and support senior management and team members in completion of projects

  • Take detailed notes and follow up on next steps with various team members

  • Monitor project progress and ensure all tasks are finished in a timely manner

  • Possession of excellent communication skills both written and oral

  • Energetic and be able to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously

Skills

  • Basic User Experience/User Interface experience

  • Experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, interaction prototypes and site maps

  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wireframing tools

  • Knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a bonus

  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction

  • Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders

  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
